School Schedule

School has been going for about two weeks, and it’s relatively easy. My schedule is:

  1. Strength and Conditioning
  2. Spreadsheet/Database/PowerPoint
  3. Earth Science G
  4. Marketing
  5. Pre-Calc
  6. HTML
  7. Working at USD469 District Office on the websites

My first hour is just going to the weight room on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Then on Tuesdays and Thursdays we do some conditioning workouts (basically running for a while). I’ve set a couple of goals for myself, one of them is by the end of September I will be doing 45 pound dumbbell flys. I’ve set a couple other goals for myself, but I can’t really remember them right now.Microsoft Excel 2010

Second hour for me is pretty easy, except we are just reading a book and the teacher does nothing. I’ve learned a little bit so far, but not very much since it’s a computer class. Right now we are just ”learning” the spreadsheet part, which is we are actually learning Microsoft Excel 2003. I think it’s kind of pointless because I’ve got Microsoft Excel 2010 on my personal computer. I’m sure the techniques are about the same, but getting to all the options isn’t very close. The image above is a screenshot I just took of Excel 2010.

Earth Science G is easy right? Correct. Except the only problem is with my teacher and the way that he approaches teaching. My class is overfilled (which means that there’s not enough seats [desks] for all the students) and my teacher acts like he has a small class. He doesn’t teach much, yet when he trys to he spends time with one table and by the end of class he hasn’t gotten around to everyone which means a table (usually my table) doesn’t get taught. He also raises his hands whenever he wants everyone quiet. Well, that doesn’t work our too good because usually everyone isn’t looking at him, they are either talking to someone and/or looking else where. Also, his appearance isn’t the best and I don’t think he acts like a great teacher. His beard is very non-kept and doesn’t look like it’s been trimmed very much (or at all for all it matters). Overall I think that I’m not going to like that class… Sadly I have it all year.

I took marketing as a filler class and wish that I wouldn’t have because it’s hard and all we do is read and take quizzes. I’m not a fast reader so I don’t get the whole chapter completed before we have a quiz. Which means I haven’t been doing very good in that class. :( Tonight, for example, we had 6 worksheets to do. He only gave us a couple of minutes to do it in class. Thankfully I can do it before that class so I didn’t really have homework.)

Probably my hardest class of this whole year, is my 5th hour. I went into this class knowing that Pre-Calc would be hard and that I would have a lot of homework from it. That has turned out to be true and we have our first test tomorrow. So, we will see how I feel about how I did. I honestly hope that I do good since it is our first test and if you get a low grade to start with it’s kind of hard to get it back up. Please pray for me!!! Lol

Sixth hour is the EASIEST class that I have had and probably will have. It’s also the most boringest class that I have taken because the whole class is like a review for me. Want to know what’s funny/sad? It’s the fact that the teacher looks to me for help when a student doesn’t do something correct. A couple of people in that class told me that I would be a better teacher than the one we have now. I don’t know how true that would be, since I’m not a very good teacher. Mr. Wessel would tell me to shut up because he thinks other wise since I showed him and three other people how to update a website using Joomla!.

You’re probably wondering what in the world my 7th hour class is. Well, do you remember me posting a while back about doing a website for my school? If you don’t then you can read the blog post here. My seventh hour class is devoted to managing and updating the High School’s website (http://www.usd469.net/lhs/). It’s also a time period where I can learn more about Joomla! and other web applications. It’s a fun class (if you could even call it that), there’s only four people (excluding the teacher/leader). So far I’ve done the High School’s website and the Lansing PTA‘s website. Both are using Joomla!, thus I don’t have to worry about updating them myself. All I have to do is train someone on how to use Joomla! to post articles and such. Very useful web application for people who know ZERO HTML!!!

After reading this long blog entry, what do you think of my first semester or my junior year? Leave me a comment or if you want, do a @b_hilton on twitter.com with a comment. Thanks for reading!

New “Gadget”

This time I’m really sorry for all you people that read my blog for not updating it for a long time. I don’t really have a good enough excuse to put up except that I have just been putting it off and off and off. Well, I finally decided to post a new entry because I got a really cool gadget in the mail today that I ordered a while back. I bough this item off of Ebay.com on June 11th and I just now got it in the mail (today is the 26th). I’m sure that if it was you that ordered it and then it didn’t arrive until now you would be like I am, ant’s in your pants and the like… Ask anyone that lives in my house (my dad and my mom :p) about how I was acting and how I was only talking about if I didn’t get it by July 2nd then I was going to get a hold of the person and get my money back! Ha-ha

I’ve got good news now! It FINALLY arrived in the mail today!!! :D – Don’t get too excited for me now, cause that would be just a little bit weird. So I’ve decided to make this blog entry mostly about me opening the package and then charging it and then me wearing it… Here it goes:

Hong Kong!

Like I told you earlier in this post I ordered this off of Ebay.com because it was cheaper then any of the other sites that I could have went through. I didn’t notice until it was to late that this was being shipped from Hong Kong, China! (As you can hopefully see in the picture to the left. <—– ) This is the reason why I didn’t receive it until two weeks after i had ordered it. Here’s another picture of the back of it that says the postage people in China have the free will to look through the package!

"customs"

(This kind of scared me when I first saw it.) I’m now glad that we live in the United States of America! Even though our rights are getting taken away slowly but surely… Another subject for maybe not another time. If you click on any of these pictures they are HUGE, so you can click on them just like they are or you can right click and open in a new tab or open in a new window to see them better.

Package ontents

After I had looked at the back (and took a picture of it —–>) I opened the package and this is what was inside ( <—- ). I then threw the brown (actually looks green in real life) aside and opened the bubble wrap packing. Inside of that is what I wanted and have been waiting for, for what seems like forever! But it was inside a zip lock baggy, so I opened this and there it was! My new Motorola S9 Bluetooth Stereo Headset has finally arrived! Here’s some pictures of it out of the package and charging.

Well that’s it for right now, except to tell everyone that in ONE week I’m leaving for PA!!! Going to be gone for a week and half to just hang out and then the rest of the second week I’m going to a Akron Youth Conference in Ohio! Going to be fun and a blast and relaxing… Until next time,

God Bless,
Bradley Hilton

P.S: I don’t look half way decent right now so that’s why there isn’t any pictures of me wearing this. I hope you all understand! I plan on making a new blog post (entry) whenever I get the chance to look half way decent and get the chance to take pictures. Thanks for understanding and be looking for the new post!

Dominic Davila

Yesterday was probably the funnest day of my spring break! I went and hung out with my cousin Tori Hilton and it was way funner then going and playing racquetball and trying to figure out how to make a template for Joomla. Lol – But anyways, me and Tori have been talking about hanging out since last Saturday (the 14th ) and we finally figured out this yesterday would work good. Well Sis. Davila, from Olathe, KS, had a baby boy and I am friends with that family’s daughter and she kept saying how cute he was and stuff. So, I wanted to see this baby and what he really looked like. I asked her if there was any way that she could send me pictures of him and she had someone send me pictures of him, but pictures aren’t anything compared to seeing babies in real life.

I finally went over to her house and just stayed there for a while doing nothing, but then we finally decided that we wanted to go now to the hospital (after some stuff happened lol). We finally went down to the hospital to see the baby and we had Elora (one of the Davila’s daughters which is Tori and I’s age) come down and meet us to show us the way because we both had no idea where to go. Haha – But then we got up to the room and man that baby was small, yet I kind of expected he would be since he’s a baby :P haha. Anyways, they asked us if we wanted to hold him and Tori said sure, but I didn’t because I have always been scared to hold any baby because I’m scared I would drop him/her. I got a picture of the baby on my phone, so here’s the picture from my phone and then I’ll show you the ones I got by email.

That’s all for right now. Will update my blog later on,

Church02.5!

FINALLY I CAN SLEEP!!! Lol – That’s how i feel right now because I’ve figured out how to add a drop down menu to my template for Joomla! I told you guys in my last post that I would be posting here whenever I finally got my template with a MooMenu added. And that’s what I am doing, but in the process of doing it I thought that you guys might want to see my screen when I work on it. This screen shot is actually from whenever I was testing out the new menu and seeing if it would work in all the browsers I have installed. The ones open and up are Opera and Safari. To my surprise Internet Explorer handled the menu better than Firefox! To all the web developers you know that this came as a huge surprise!!! Lol – As you can tell I’m really excited (from all the “!”‘s). Here’s the screen shot:

church02_wip

The only thing that I have left to do is to edit the “templateDetails.xml” file to be up to date and to include all the files when installing. Then the next test will be to test the installing of the template and work out all of the errors that I get. Let’s pray that I can get it all working before I go to bed! :D

On a side note, I’ve been texting this girl since last week sometime, and then this past Saturday a local church had a youth service with fellowship afterward. I stayed for it and talked to someone about this girl and to find out she’s on fire for God which is AWESOME! This means that once I talk to my pastor about his rules for talking to girls, then I am going to move on from there and I’m praying that she actually likes me!!! Lol – I’m sure most of my readers don’t really care about this, but I just thought I would put that in there! Haha – That’s all for now, will update later some time, that ain’t a promise that it’ll be within a week, but I will try.

God Bless,
Bradley Hilton

Joomla!

Howdy everyone! How’s your day (or night) going so far? As of right now, mine is doing pretty good! That’s partly because this whole week I’ve been on Spring Break, which means no school and no homework! :D There’s another reason why I”m doing pretty good, and that’s because I’ve almost got making a template for Joomla! down pact.

If you’re like most people, then you probably have no idea what Joomla! is. Correct? Well, let me try to explain to you what it is and hopefully you’ll have a better understanding. Joomla! is a Content Management System, or rather known as CMS. What this means is that someone can easily manage a website without any XHTML, CSS, or PHP, or any other website/server language. The only downfall to doing that, is someone will either have to settle for a free template (thus being not very good) or they can pay a good chunk of money for a template for it that has a good amount of features already built into it. I’ve seen, on average, a template for Joomla! costing about sixty dollars! There was also a website that I saw that claimed it had it’s “own” content management system and they would host and design your very own template, well when I got to looking at the CMS they had, it was straight up Joomla!! Here’s the part that really got me, it cost a ton of money up front and then a good chunk of money per month if you went with them.

Well all of information has got to my head and I’ve started to realize that if I could create templates for Joomla! and then start hosting some, I could possibly get a good amount of money! This whole week (except for Tuesday and maybe today) I have spent all day acting like a geek and being a geek. Which means I have been learning how to create a template for Joomla!. Now I have a totally different way of learning how to any type of coding or learning a language. I’ve applied this same concept for learning how to create a template for Joomla! and I believe that it’s actually working!

So far I have successfully create ½ of a template. You’re probably wondering how in the world this is possible and let me know you it is. Lol – It’s possible because to create a template for Joomla! you really only need one page for whole website. This page is the “index.php” and  it contains many and many lines of code. Not only does it have html and php but it also has some sort of special coding language that is for Joomla! and I think by Joomla!. I have wrote a complete front page of the template, but I need to (or rather find out how to) include some PHP coding so that it checks and see if there is any content being posted on the right side of the page, and then if there isn’t anything  there then not display that stuff. Wish me luck my readers and peeps! Lol

Articles

Howdy all,

I’m pretty sure that if any of you have talked to me or been on EA or M.A.N. (My Apostolic Network) then you have heard about Apostolic Youth Press (http://www.apostolicyotuhpress.com/). Well since I’m writing articles for that site then I am going to be also posting them here on my blog. So, I’ve already got one article and I am currently waiting on someone to get back before I can acutally post it onto AYP. Thus I am going to be posting some of the articles on here. Be looking for them! (That is if anyone does acutally read my blog.)

Anyways as anyone can tell I ain’t really posting here much. I’m really sorry about that and I might try and do it more. Here’s a link to a site that I am testing Joomla on: http://www.graywolf336.com/joomla/ – You can join it if you want, but I aint really going to say anything about it because it is my testing site to try and get a handle on it.I think that I am going to try and make my church’s website with Joomla because it’s a very easy Content Mangement System (CMS). This would then help me to where I don’t have to acutally edit the HTML when a new sermon is preached and they also have a plug-in for it to where it’s made for sermons! You can have a RSS feed and they also say that you can have a podcast, but I’ve yet to acutally figure that out. That’s why I have this testing site for Joomla. Let me know if you can help me out! That would be totally awesome! Lol

That’s all for right now, so I’ll be posting that article I typed up for AYP soon! God Bless,

-Bradley Hilton

And I’m Back

After a while of no blog I really started to miss posting random stuff. So I have created and started my blog back up again. This time there ain’t going to be any rebellion type posts because that was just bad. That’s past and let’s look ahead at the future!

I am currently remaking my church’s website. This new layout and pages are going to be more organized and the overall layout is better looking. I honestly got tired of looking at that old layout because it was too bright and hurt my eyes to look at it. I’ll let everyone know when I get it all up and running on the main site (apostolicreason.com).

I got a new phone this past weekend and I’m really lovin’ it! I got the Palm Centro. I really love the full keyboard and the touch screen! Those two things just go perfect together, and then with the Palm OS it’s really good. I can run any programs that my palm pilot (Palm Zire 72) could, which is awesome cause I have a good amount of apps for it. It’s so much easier to text now!!! :D Lol

But that’s it for right now. More later!
