Apostolicbook Entry 3

About four months ago I posted Apostolicbook Entry 2 and was hoping that by now we would have our first Alpha testing going. Has that happened? No. Why hasn’t it happened? Because we could never decide on a layout we wanted and none of us could design a logo worth keeping. Also, during this time we lost one of our team members, Jared Hilton. Has that affected us any? Yes and no. No by the fact that we all really weren’t motivated and yes because he did have a good idea or two.

A week or two ago I talked some with Aaron Ogle and we decided to try our hand at things again. After a couple tries of trying to create a logo, I gave up and told him that we needed to find an Apostolic graphic artist. He agreed and I started looking, and it was God that I found one (and a very good one at that). Apostolicbook now has it’s very own graphic designer. What does this mean for us and for everyone else? The world!! Or at least it seems like that.

Last night we had a so called “business meeting” that lasted from around 8 till 11 (my time). You’re thinking “Wow that’s a long time!” and you are correct, but we needed that. I think we all went away from it feeling very accomplished. We got several things much needed out of the way. Of those things, the main one I’m happy about is our logo! It’s very sweet looking and most defintally will be recoginzable any where. I won’t give any details of what it looks like (and won’t post pictures of it), as it’s not time for that. :) Cause like the Bible says, there’s a time and place for everything!

We did a lot of other things about Apostolicbook last night, and they are all very important too. The last thing I’m going to say is this… Be sure to start checking our Twitter, Status blog, and our homepage for updates! Cause who knows, sometime soon we might reveal a little here and there!

This is all for now! Hopefully you can tell I’m ready to start doing stuff on Apostolicbook!!! :) God Bless,
Bradley Hilton

How I Wanna Be Remembered

I saw a billboard on my way home today from Guitar Center that was from a company advertising how much they charge for complete funerals. This thought crossed my mind and started the gears in my head to turn. I started thinking about how I would want to be remembered as and what I wanted to be remembered for doing. It’s an interesting topic that really has made me think and that’s why I wanted to write about it.

How do I want to be remembered like? I want to be remembered by people in the world as someone who was different then everyone else, and there was just something about him. What do I want that “something about him” to be? That I was an Apostolic young person (or just an Apostolic). To the world I want to be remembered as someone who was nice, you could tell him something and not worry about it getting spread around, dressed nicely no matter what the event or place was (like no shaggy look), and loved church and Jesus!  I also think it’d be cool to be remembered as someone who could help out with computers problems and be a patient person.

How do I want to be remembered in the church/Apostolic people? Mainly someone who was on fire for God and knew how to pray and worship. Those last two things are something that I need to work on if I really want to be remembered for those. Some other things that would be sweet to be remembered by is that for church I was always dressed top of the line no matter if I was just at my home church or I was at a church camp or at a conference. Another thing I would like to be remembered by is that I could figure out a sound system and help a church sounding good.

There are some other things that I would love to be remembered for doing, but they aren’t as high on the list of things as above. Being able to code almost any website design thrown at me would be something neat to be remembered by, but it’s such a small thing that it’ll probably be the last thing remembered of me. Being a good photographer would be something else, but I haven’t taken many pictures in my life to be remembered of it.

I know this post seemed to be mainly about me and it’s very rare that I’ll talk about myself this much, but that thought really was stuck in my head and I had to get it out. Later I will be making a post about a little phrase Bro. Ben Weeks said when he was preaching at a night service at Camp Niangua, “Don’t judge me by my snake bite.” Very good meaning behind it and I’m praying that God helps me write it and do justice to it. Hopefully it’ll be wrote by a week from now.

God Bless,
Bradley

P.S: Brianna, was this “deep”? :p lol

1st Real Project

Svcliving.com

Here’s just a quick update about something I recently did. As many of you know I love coding, especially website coding. Many people have asked me why I like it so much, and the only truthful answer I can give is the fact that it’s sometimes a challenge. I love challenges even if I get mad or angry while doing it. Why? Because after I’m done and get it working 100% correctly, I’m happy and excited about it. :)

With that in mind, you also know that I’ve coded a couple websites. Including but not limited to My Pastors, My School’s, My School District’s Welcome Center, and mine (new one in the process).

As of just recently, I can now add another one to that list. Also in a couple days from now I’ll be able to add two more, but for now I’ll just talk about one.

This picture is a screenshot taken from my phone (since it’s what I’ve typed up this blog post with) and it’s of the site I can now add to my portfolio. It’s for a real estate company as you can maybe see from the screen shot. It is a Joomla! template and it’s also a Joomanager theme. There was a little bit of a learning curve going from just coding a Joomla! template to adding and making sure that Joomanager worked and looked correctly. I was excited to do this site and glad that I got it done before my deadline. The link to the live website is: http://www.svcliving.com/ even though they currently don’t have it all the way up as they are learning how to use Joomla and Joomanager. Just thought I’d share this with you all.

And upcoming sometime soon is a post called “Who Are the Best Actors”. I’ve still got a ways to go before that post is complete, but I’m hoping it’s going to end up good.

God Bless,
Bradley

One

One can mean a lot. It can be 12 or .5 + .5. It can also mean other things and those other things are pretty awesome!!! Let me explain…

One hour till I leave for prayer at church and tonight I’m playing the bass during church.
One Lord, One Faith, and One baptism – Ephesians 4:5
One more day of school!!!
One more day of school food
One way to Heaven
One more year of high school for me left! :)
One year till I graduate from High School
One more month till I leave for Camp Niangua 2010!!
First year of going to Camp Niangua! And yes i’m 100% excited for it!!!

This list could do on and on, but since I’m leaving in about an hour (1 hour) for before service prayer, I had better start getting ready. I’m thinking of wearing one of my new shirts that I just bought, but can’t decide which one to wear… Guess we’ll see since they are actually going to be taking pictures tonight and I was told I have to put them up online. So, I’ll make a blog post about it after I get them uploaded to my church’s website.

New Shirts IN!!!

This is an update to my previous post titled New Shirts. I received them in the mail on Monday!!! I’m so excited because they are way better quality then I thought that they would since they were coming in from Korea. You can call me a traitor for not ordering any shirts that are made in the USA, but to be honest I couldn’t find any that were online.

(Pictures and more after the break!)

New Shirts

For those of you who are following me on Google Buzz, here’s an update on the link I posted a while back. But for those of you who aren’t following me on Google Buzz then here’s some news for you! :)

White shirt trimmed in black. Black shirt trimmed in white

I was searching online for some new shirts/clothes to buy and get for myself since I’m in need of some new clothes. Well I’ve always like this style of clothing where the shirt is one color and the collar, sleeve collars, and front pockets are a different color. I search on Amazon.com and many other sites, but usually the shirt was very expensive and the shipping was an insane amount too. I finally decided to search on Ebay.com for these type of shirts and to my surprise they weren’t as expensive and the shipping wasn’t very bad (especially if you got combined shipping). I had to wait until I got enough money to buy them because at that time I was sort of broke. Well that time has come (payday!) and now it’s gone. I have bought these two shirts that I have pictures of!! Hopefully I will get them by the end of May (hopefully a lot sooner!) and that way I can wash them and make them comfortable if they aren’t already. At camp that I talked about in my last post called Life, I do plan to wear one if not both of these shirts.

So what do you think of these shirts? Like them? Dislike them? Think I was stupid for buying them? Don’t really give a care about them? Wish you had them? Wondering why I have so many questions? (lol)

Also one more question before I go (it’s late when I’m posting this!!!), how should they be worn? Casually or dressy? Like should I wear them how the pictures above suggest? Or should I wear them with black dress pants and a tie? Or how about a suit and tie and these shirts? Or could be both ways? I’m very much open to suggestions! Throw them at me!! :)

Good night and God Bless,
Bradley Hilton

My Credo

Here’s a little assignment I had to do for school. Please read and tell me what you think of my credos!

I have three main beliefs in life and many other secondary beliefs. The very first and foremost belief in my life is that there is One God and His name is Jesus. In the Bible it says “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD” and it also says “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” I’m an Apostolic and I believe without a shadow of a doubt that what the Bible says is correct and it is to not be doubted. Another main belief in my life is honesty. Once a person tells a “little white lie” they eventually have to expand that “little white lie” into a big one because people start asking questions about it. There is a saying that goes something like this, “if you tell the truth then you don’t have to remember what you said.” That saying is a statement and belief that I’ve built how I live my life on. The last main belief that I have in my life is love. Living life without love to me would be boring. I love my family, my one and only God (Jesus), my church, and I love my friends. Someone has to have love in their life or there will be something else in love’s place. Usually if someone does not have love in their life then they have hatred or strife. I view life as this little saying I have, “You only have one life to live, why hate and be depressed?”

Don’t know what credo means? The simple definition is: any system of principles or beliefs.

Bradley

Life

April was a very quiet month for me on the internet and especially on my blog. A Sweet shirt from c28.com Since my last post (New Computer?) I’ve had a couple interesting things happen and quite a few good things happen.

Of the many good things that have happened, my favorite one is the fact that I get to officially get to go to Camp Niangua! This camp is hosted by Diggins Apostolic Church and the pastor is Bro. Herion.  I wasn’t going to be able to go because we had heard from somewhere that you had to go with a youth group and you couldn’t just go by yourself. Well that information got denied/shut down because it wasn’t the truth at a Youth Rally that Bro. Riggen’s church in Olathe, KS (New Life). After the service was over they had some activities like basketball and I think they had kickball, I was saddened because they didn’t have any volleyball (lol)!! I was watching some people play basketball because I prefer to watch and not play since I can’t play (I’m not good at it) and I got to talking with a young man from Bro. Herion’s church (I can’t remember his name for some reason).  We got to talking and as time went along more and more people came over and started talking with us. By the time they were ready to leave, I think there was their whole youth group that went to the youth rally standing around in the circle. While we were all standing around talking and having a good time, their youth leader came over to me and asked me if I was going to Camp Niangua. I told him I wanted to and then I told him why we thought I wouldn’t go. He immediately shot that idea down and told me that I could go since I was going to be going by myself. I got happy about that news because I really wanted to go! Something awesome happened at that youth service, but I’ll keep that for myself right now. :) Lol

I went that Sunday night or Wednesday night after the Youth Rally and talked to my pastor and asked him if it was okay for me to go to Camp Niangua. He said it was and when he told me that I could have jumped and danced for joy because I was so happy!! Needless to say I came out of there smiling and people was wondering what I was so exuberant about. Haha :) The rest of this story is just that I filled out the forms, had my pastor sign the form(s?), and then mailed it with the money. So I am officially going to Camp Niangua!!!!

The only news that I want to share with the world (there is a ton of more news that the whole internet/world doesn’t need to know since it’s private stuff) is the fact that I’ve picked up a project or two. The first project I’ve picked up is a website and that’s kind of on the back burner since I’ve got to do a lot of research before I can actually do it. The other project is an idea that came to me a couple weeks ago. This project is to create a script of one of the stories in the Bible. (No I won’t say what it is because someone else might take my idea.) After me and the person who is more than likely going to be helping me write this script get done, I’m going to take it and record it and make it a dramatized version. This is going to be a learning experience for me because this will be the first dramatized project that I have done. Why do I want to do this? Because my pastor (Pastor Chalfant) has wrote some very good novels and I asked him if he would like to have them as audio books and then maybe a dramatized audio version of it. Creating a dramatized version of his novels would be very long process and I want some experience before I do this.

Do you have any ideas for scripts for me? Or have you wrote and good scripts that you would like to have made into dramatized audio versions? If you do, then please feel free to email me at: admin [at] graywolf336.com. I would be more than happy to try it out, but it would take me some time before I actually could get it done.

Before I go, here’s a link to some images of me when I was younger than I am now. The image up above is the most recent picture I have of me right now and it’s honestly not very good in my opinion. Here’s the link: My baby pictures

Enjoy and God Bless,

New Computer?

So, I’ve decided to finally build my own computer. “What’s caused you do to that?” Thanks for asking!! Back in January (or early February) my laptop decided that it wouldn’t work anymore and so it fried the motherboard. I’m not saying it’s only the computer’s fault!! Could have been something I done to it, but I guess I’ll never know since it gave up the ghost and died. :( Thankfully it didn’t take the hard drive with it when it left! I still have all my documents, so that’s one thing I am happy about! :)

Well, ever since my laptop died I’ve had to use a crazily slow computer! Some times I’ve had to wait like five minutes for it to load a program that on my laptop took less than a minute to load. I’m not fully complaining because at least I have a computer! The image on the left is the specs for the computer I currently am working on. As you can tell it has an older Pentium 4 processor, which is slow!

Since this computer is really slow and I can’t have two big programs open to do websites, it’s caused me to think about getting a new one. I was going to buy my cousin’s computer, but earlier today I got to thinking and decided that I would build my own computer. So ever since then I’ve been gathering some information about what all components I want on this computer. Here are the links to the computer parts that I’m thinking of getting. Now  please understand that none of this is set in stone.. That is until I actually buy the first part of this computer! After you review these, PLEASE let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions!!

Processer: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition     http://jjq.in/processor

Motherboard:   ASUS M4A79XTD http://jjq.in/motherboard

Ram: Crucial Ballistix Tracer 4GB(x2) http://jjq.in/ram

Case: XCLIO Blackhawk http://jjq.in/case

I’ve yet to decided on the hard drive and that’ll probably be the last thing that I get. What you think?

ApostolicBook Entry 2

Over three months ago I posted a blog entry called “ApostolicBook Entry 1″. Since that time, there have been a good amount of things that have changed from the way we had first thought we had wanted them. One of those was the layout of the interface for the user. The layout that we orginally had looked very similar to the new layout that Facebook rolled out. This set us back some because we want to be different from all other social networking websites. Why do we want to be differet? The answer to that is simple. We want to be different because a lot of the social networking wesbites now look a lot like each other and to us (Aaron Ogle, Jared Hilton, and myself) it starts getting boring after a little bit. After this set back we almost totally threw away the design that we had, except I’m thinking about keeping some parts of it and using it in our new layout.

This new design that we have in our mind is very different and I don’t think I have seen anything like it on any other social networking website. We’re not completely sure that the design that we have right now is going to be the final one, but it is a concept of something which is more than nothing! Haha – I wish I could post some pictures of the design that we are thinking of, but the colors don’t really match. It’s a horrible reason why not to post them, but i’m just not going to post them. I will say that we are implenting as much effects as we can without making the website slow so that the users will enjoy using AposolicBook.

If you have any suggestions for us or would like to give us some input, please feel free to let us know!! After we start getting the whole website up and going, we will probably be looking for some people to Alpha Test (not Beta since Alpha comes first) for us. During the Alpha Test we will require the users to give us input and take surveys either every week or every other week, and we will also require users to inform us whenever they run into an error or bug. That way we can see how users like it and improve the website based on their feedback.

Hopefully I will get to post another AposolicBook entry sometime soon and not in another three months. Lol – I’m hoping that by three months from now we will already be in Alpha Testing phase. If we’re not that far into the development of ApostolicBook, then I’m hoping to at least have a majority of the pre-Alpha Testing done. So, pray for us that we have enough time and creativity to do this! Thanks.

God Bless,
Bradley Hilton
